Thanksgiving banner

My grandmother gave me her amazing sewing machine about two years ago. I am so grateful for such a special gift, but I have been putting off learning how to use it. I took a beginner’s sewing class last year, which was fun, but I still am completely lost.

I have been told that this is a pretty awesome sewing machine. It came with the original manual, complete with careful notes in my grandma’s perfect cursive.

One of my resolutions for 2012 is to finally learn how to sew. I thought I’d get a jump start and attempt a banner for Thanksgiving.

It took awhile for me to figure out how to thread everything, but once that was done, the rest was easy peasy.

domestic goddess

Being back in school really gets my domestic juices flowing. I’d way rather cook/clean/knit than study.

I finally finished a scarf tonight for Ryan that I’ve been working on for weeks. It’s the first pattern I’ve ever followed and the scarf is really snuggly and warm.

snood

Ryan got me a pretty rad Christmas present. It’s a snood.

A snood is a cross between a scarf and a hood. I don’t know why they don’t call it a sood. Where does the N come from?

All I know is that it’s seriously warm. And I love it.
